Installation of a LED strip

We are asked very often how the LED strips should be installed. What is necessary: adhesive or anything else? We are going to explain this basic issue and show that installation of a LED strip is as easy as a pie. Even easier, if we help you to compose an appropriate set. What do I need to cut the LED strip?  To cut LED strip we will need sharp scissors. The cut should be done in cross marked lines, like in the picture on the right. Most LED strips are fitted with a 3M adhesive tape at the back. It allows for gluing the strip quickly and easily, almost everywhere. Obviously, it is important that the surface allows for sticking the strip, so it should be clean and rather smooth. The strip adhesive is durable but if you know the strip will be exposed to mechanical damage or water, consider buying an extra LED profile. The diodes’ life is very long but the self-adhesive strip, after several years in difficult conditions (e.g. on the stairs washed regularly or in the presence of water vapour in the kitchen), can become unstuck. Moreover, the LED profile will be useful in all those locations where the LED strip will be placed in view. It looks much better in a profile than in form of a naked strip glued to a kitchen cupboard or another piece of furniture.  A milk-glass plug diffuses light, creates even lines but absorbs a few percent of light (it is recommended in the tile grouts in the bathroom or directed towards e.g. a shining floor). A transparent plug is recommended in the places where the diodes will be invisible (e.g. suspended ceilings, wooden stairs, kitchen cupboards).
